Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin star as a group of survivors living after a zombie apocalypse. Together they take an extended road trip in an attempt to find a sanctuary free from zombies.
The film kicks off with Columbus (Eisenberg) detailing how he has managed to survive the plague of zombies - simply, by following his “rules,” designed to keep him alive where others have failed. Columbus soon encounters fellow survivor Tallahassee, played by Woody Harrelson, who shows him how to live in a post-apocalyptic world and to “enjoy the little things.” His enthusiasm for inventive zombie killing is matched only by his obsession with Twinkies. Later on, the pair stumble across siblings Wichita and Little Rock, who persuade the men to travel to California with them to reach an amusement park that is (presumably) a zombiefree zone. These social misfits soon becomes a close family - a zombie-killing family, that is.
Zombieland, although part of the well-worn zombie genre, is a great example of offbeat comedy at its finest, offering unique characters, inspired mayhem and a warm heart that hasn’t been ripped out of someone’s chest.
