The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

"The Legend Comes to Life"

55 years after Tolkien published his greatest work, YSC invites you to join us for what has become a fine example of classic cinema. Whether you have seen it or not, do not miss your chance to watch this enthralling fantasy spectacular on the big screen.

The story starts in the simple beauty of The Shire, on Bilbo’s birthday. Bilbo announces his intention to go travelling, leaving everything, including a magic ring, to his nephew Frodo. Little do they know that this ring is the One Ring of power, the master ring made by Sauron to control all others: “Into this ring he poured all his cruelty, his malice and his will to dominate all life... One ring to rule them all.”

So begins the adventure of a lifetime, as Frodo must take the ring somewhere safe. With his ever faithful friend Sam in tow, two hobbits set off on the perilous task that will claim more than one life. At Rivendale, it is decided that the ring must be destroyed, but the ongoing journey will be anything but easy. A fellowship – of men, an elf, a dwarf, a wizard and four hobbits – is born. Frodo and Co. must battle orcs, trolls and even danger from within as the ring weaves its dark power around the group, sowing seeds of discontent among them. It seems that the littlest of people have the biggest of parts to play in this tale.

Jackson transports us through many perils, over mountains and through mines, with spectacular scenery throughout. This film is wholly involving and truly breathtaking. Wood is brilliant as the vulnerable Frodo and Mortensen perfectly pitches the intense and brooding Aragon. Question is, will the fellowship stay true?
